You’re in the right place.

If you found your way here, chances are you love a kid who loves this game.

And somewhere along the way, you may have started to realize that loving them through it takes more than just getting them to practice on time and cheering from the stands.

There is a whole world around your athlete that no one really explains to you.

Human.Hooper.Hero was built for that world.

For the questions you keep carrying.
For the moments you replay on the drive home.
For the part of you that just wants to know how to help without making it heavier.

You’re Not imagining it…

Your kid loves this game. You love watching them play it. But somewhere along the way, you started wondering if they’re really okay — and if you’re saying the right things, asking the right questions, or helping the way you hoped you would.

You’re not crazy. You’re not overthinking everything. You’re paying attention. That’s why The Home Team exists.

A 21-day parent guide created from years spent inside this world as a basketball mom, photographer, storyteller, and trusted voice in the gyms, huddles, benches, and quiet car rides where so much of this experience really happens.

It’s the guidance I wish someone had handed me at the parent meeting — created to help you feel more prepared, more informed, and less alone as you support your athlete through the season.

Start here. You don’t have to figure this out alone.

Coming soon...

The Cost Beneath the Game is a book for the families raising athletes in a world no one explained.

A look at the emotional side of youth sports, what it asks of our kids, and how parents can better understand, support, and love them through it.

For the parent who has ever wondered, “Is my kid really okay?” This was written for you.

Hi, i’m heather!

I came to youth basketball the same way you might have, as a parent with a kid who loved to hoop.

What started as taking photos of my son and his teammates became years spent inside gyms, on baselines, near benches, around families, and close enough to see what this world asks of young athletes.

Human.Hooper.Hero was built from that place, as a home for the stories, tools, conversations, and resources that help translate the world around the athlete, so the people raising, coaching, and supporting them can better understand what this experience is asking of all of us.

OVER THE YEARS.

A few of my favorite photos from the road that brought us here.

The work was always about them, and it still is.
